Suisto
A suisto is the Finnish term for the estuary or delta of a river—the zone where freshwater from the river mixes with seawater and where tidal forces and sediment deposition shape the coastline. Suistot are dynamic interfaces that accumulate sediment carried by rivers and sometimes form distributary networks, mudflats, sandbars, and salt or brackish marshes.
