Suhrawardis
Suhrawardis refers to a lineage of scholars and mystics associated with the influential Suhrawardiyya Sufi order. This order was founded in the 12th century by Shihab al-Din Yahya ibn Habash Suhrawardi, often known as al-Suhrawardi or Shaykh al-Ishraq. Al-Suhrawardi was a Persian philosopher and mystic whose thought blended Neoplatonism with Islamic mysticism, emphasizing the importance of illumination and divine knowledge. His philosophical system, known as Ishraqi or "theosophy of illumination," posits a hierarchical universe emanating from a divine light.
Following al-Suhrawardi's execution in 1191, the Suhrawardiyya order continued to flourish, spreading throughout the Islamic world.
