Studenten

Studenten is the Dutch plural for student. It refers to individuals enrolled in educational programs, typically pursuing higher education or vocational training. The term covers undergraduate and graduate students as well as adult learners.

In the Netherlands and Flanders, higher education is divided into universities (universiteiten) and universities of applied sciences (hogescholen). Students enroll in degree programs, complete coursework and examinations, and can earn bachelor’s or master’s degrees, or professional qualifications.

Studenten participate in campus life, join student organizations and unions, and may live in student housing such as rented rooms or dormitories. They can be active in student government, debates on education policy, and social or cultural activities.

Demographics: most students are between 18 and 25, but many pursue studies later in life.

Financing: funding and tuition arrangements vary; common forms include tuition fees, scholarships or grants, and student loans or funding schemes provided by governments or institutions.
