Strömmätklämmor

Strömmätklämmor, often translated as current clamps or clamp meters, are electrical testing instruments that measure alternating current (AC) in a conductor without making direct contact. This non-invasive method is achieved through the principle of electromagnetic induction. The clamp meter encloses the conductor, and the magnetic field generated by the current flow is detected by a sensor, which then translates this into a measurable current reading displayed on the device.

These devices are particularly useful for safely measuring current in situations where breaking the circuit to insert a standard ammeter would be impractical or dangerous. They are widely used by electricians, technicians, and engineers in various applications, including troubleshooting electrical systems, monitoring power consumption, and performing safety checks.

Strömmätklämmor typically measure AC current, but some advanced models also offer capabilities for measuring direct current (DC), voltage, resistance, and continuity. The measurement range and accuracy can vary significantly between different models. Many clamp meters feature a digital display for easy reading and often include additional functions like a data hold feature to freeze a reading and a backlight for use in low-light conditions. When using a strömmätklämma, it is crucial to ensure that the conductor being measured is placed entirely within the jaws of the clamp and that the device is set to the correct measurement function and range.
