Stránok

Stránok is the genitive plural form of the Slovak noun stránka, meaning page. It is used when referring to multiple pages in contexts that require the genitive case, such as after numerals or other determiners.

In everyday Slovak, the form appears in phrases describing quantity or ownership of pages. For example, počet stránok means “the number of pages,” and niekoľko stránok means “several pages.” The form also appears in compound nouns and fixed expressions where stránka is modified by another element and the genitive plural is required, for instance zoznam stránok (“list of pages”) and obsah stránok (“content of the pages”).

Stránok is distinct from the nominative plural stránky, which simply means “pages.” The choice between stránok and stránky depends on the syntactic role of stránka in the sentence and the governing case. In other Slavic languages, the corresponding genitive plural is often similar but with different endings; for example in Czech the form is stránek. The word is used in both literary and colloquial contexts, and correct usage relies on the case system and numeral agreement.
