Strophomenaceans
Strophomenaceans are an extinct order of brachiopods that lived during the Paleozoic Era, from the Cambrian to the Permian periods. They are characterized by their distinctive shell shape and musculature. Strophomenaceans typically possessed a flattened, semicircular shell that was wider than it was long. A key feature was the presence of a corrugated or ribbed shell surface, often with undulating or wavy ribs. Unlike many other brachiopods, strophomenaceans had a ventral valve (pedicle valve) that was often flatter than the dorsal valve ( którego valve), which could be more convex.
The internal anatomy of strophomenaceans reveals adaptations for a sessile lifestyle. They had a well-developed pedicle,
Strophomenaceans were widespread marine organisms, found in a variety of environments from shallow to deeper waters.
