Strokesbrush is a term used in digital art communities to describe a family of brush tools and techniques that emphasize the visible texture and cadence of brush strokes in artwork. It denotes both a set of brush presets and an approach to painting that prioritizes gesture and variation over perfectly smooth fills.

In digital software, strokesbrush tools simulate traditional brushwork by varying pressure, tilt, speed, and brush tip shape to produce irregular line quality, textured edges, and variable opacity. Artists apply strokesbrush to convey energy, material properties (such as grain, ink saturation, or oil glaze), and to create a sense of motion. The technique can be implemented with programmable brush engines or with custom brush shapes that record stroke dynamics.

Practice and use: Gesture brushing focuses on rapid, expressive strokes to capture form and movement. Texture layering combines multiple strokes with different textures to build depth. Variations in opacity and width along a stroke mimic natural deposition of pigment.
