Straightfaced refers to a demeanor characterized by a lack of outward emotional expression, particularly amusement or a smile. A person described as straightfaced maintains a neutral or impassive facial expression, often in situations where others might react with laughter or other visible signs of emotion. This can be a deliberate choice to conceal feelings, to maintain a serious or authoritative appearance, or it may be a natural personality trait.

The term can be used in various contexts. In humor, someone might try to remain straightfaced while telling a joke or witnessing something funny, often to test the reactions of others or to build comedic tension.
