Stormarn

Stormarn is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is located in the southeastern part of the state, bordering the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg to the west and the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to the east. The administrative seat of the district is Bad Oldesloe. Stormarn is part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region.

The district covers an area of approximately 763 square kilometers and has a population of around 240,000 inhabitants. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, forests, and numerous lakes, making it a popular area for recreation and tourism. The river Trave flows through Stormarn.

Historically, the region has been inhabited since prehistoric times. During the Middle Ages, it was part of the Duchy of Holstein. In the 19th century, it became a Prussian administrative district. Following World War II, it was integrated into the newly formed state of Schleswig-Holstein.
