Stipagrostis

Stipagrostis is a genus of grasses native to arid and semi-arid regions of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. These grasses are characterized by their drought tolerance and ability to survive in sandy soils. The genus name comes from the Greek words "stipe," meaning stalk or stem, and "agrostis," meaning grass.
