Stegosauria
Stegosauria is a clade of herbivorous, armored dinosaurs within Ornithischia, part of the larger group Thyreophora. Members are best known for the dorsal plates and tail spikes that give them their name. Stegosaurians first appeared in the Jurassic and were most diverse in the Late Jurassic of North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. The best known genus is Stegosaurus; other examples include Kentrosaurus, Dacentrurus, and Huayangosaurus, which is often regarded as the most basal stegosaur.
