Statusangivelser

Statusangivelser are signals or indications of the current state of a system, process, object, or document. They can be visual, textual, or machine-readable and are used to communicate status information quickly and unambiguously.

The term is Danish and combines status with angivelse (indication). It is used across fields such as information technology, project management, manufacturing, logistics, and administration to describe how something is currently functioning or where it stands in a workflow. In many contexts, a status field or indicator is part of a larger data model or user interface and may be represented by standardized codes, labels, or icons.

Representations of statusangivelser vary. Visual indicators can include colors, icons, and progress bars; textual labels provide explicit descriptions; and machine-readable forms may use coded values in data exchanges or APIs. Common examples include statuses like open, in progress, completed, on hold, canceled, or error. In hardware and embedded systems, statuses may also reflect states such as powered on, standby, fault, or maintenance mode.

In practice, statusangivelser support process transparency and decision-making. They are central to ticketing systems, project dashboards, manufacturing lines, shipment tracking, and document approval workflows. Effective design emphasizes clarity, consistency, and accessibility, with well-defined state transitions, localization, and an audit trail of changes to the status.
