Stateids

State IDs have been used in various capacities since the 1960s, with the first codebook being published in 1964. The NASIRE, established in 1959, serves as the governing body for the state ID system. The association reviews and updates the codebook annually to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Today, State IDs are used in a range of government and public sector applications, including Medicaid, education, public health, and law enforcement. They provide a means of uniquely identifying and linking data across organizational boundaries, facilitating more efficient data exchange and analysis.
