Standardtreue

Standardtreue describes the degree to which a measurement, signal, or process aligns with a predefined reference standard. The term combines the German words standard and Treue (fidelity) and is used in technical and quality contexts to express adherence to an established baseline.

It is not a formal international concept with a single definition; rather, its exact meaning varies by field. Typical elements include traceability to reference standards, low systematic bias, stable performance over time, and minimal drift or aging effects.

In metrology and quality assurance, Standardtreue is assessed through calibration against known reference standards, evaluation of measurement uncertainty, and monitoring of repeatability and reproducibility. Practices such as establishing a traceability chain to SI units, conducting linearity tests, and performing periodic drift checks are commonly used.

Applications appear in laboratories, where instrument calibration seeks to maximize Standardtreue; in manufacturing and process control, where adherence to specifications ensures uniform products; and in data systems, where compliance with reference datasets or data standards is measured.
