Stalagmiitti
Stalagmiitti is a type of speleothem, which are mineral formations found in caves. Specifically, a stalagmite is an upward-growing mound or pillar of mineral deposits that forms on the floor of a cave. They are created by the continuous dripping of water that contains dissolved minerals, most commonly calcium carbonate. As the water droplets fall from the ceiling, they deposit small amounts of these minerals. Over long periods, these deposits accumulate, gradually building up from the cave floor.
The formation process is slow, often taking thousands of years to create significant structures. The minerals
Stalagmites are distinct from stalactites, which are similar mineral formations that hang down from the cave
