Sseen

Sseen is a coastal city-state and archipelago in the northern maritime region of Eldoria. It comprises the main island of Sseen and two smaller islands, Keld and Morin, connected by bridges and ferry routes. The capital, Sseen City, sits on the southern shore. The name is thought to derive from a local term meaning gathering place.

Sseen operates as a parliamentary republic with a president as head of state and a prime minister as head of government. The legislature, the Assembly, is bicameral, consisting of a Senate and a House of Representatives. Elections are held every four years.

The archipelago has roots in early seafaring communities and developed as a trading hub in the medieval era. It gained autonomous governance in the 18th and 19th centuries and joined the Eldorian Federation in the late 19th century, achieving full parliamentary autonomy within the federation.

The economy centers on fisheries, seafood processing, shipbuilding, and tourism. Renewable energy projects include tidal and offshore wind facilities. Transport relies on ferries, bridges, and Sseen International Airport; a ring-road encircles the main island.

The population is about 320,000. Sseen has a maritime cultural heritage, reflected in festivals such as Tidemark and in regional cuisine featuring fish and seaweed. The official language is Sseeni; English is common in business. Notable institutions include Sseen University and the Institute of Marine Science; landmarks include the Tidewatch Lighthouse and Harbor Cathedral.
