Sprayler

Sprayler is a device that discharges liquid as a spray. The term is less standard than sprayer or sprinkler and can be used to refer to a range of devices from handheld household sprayers to industrial misting systems. It is commonly employed in gardening, cleaning, coating, and disinfection tasks, as well as in agricultural and manufacturing contexts.

Most spraylers consist of a reservoir to hold liquid, a valve or pump to create pressure, and a nozzle or set of nozzles that shapes the exiting spray. The spray pattern—such as a fine mist, a cone, or a fan—depends on the nozzle geometry, orifice size, and the driving pressure. Some devices use air assistance or atomization to improve droplet formation.

Common forms include manual push- or trigger-sprayers for home use, pump or compressed-air sprayers for horticulture, backpack or wheel sprayers for larger areas, and specialized equipment for painting, coating, or crop protection. Droplet size and flow rate determine coverage, drift, and effectiveness; smaller droplets spread more evenly but may drift more easily in windy conditions.

Safety and maintenance considerations include using compatible chemicals, avoiding inhalation of aerosols, and cleaning or flushing the nozzle after use to prevent clogging. Regular inspection of seals and gaskets prevents leaks. Proper storage and calibration ensure consistent application rates and reduce waste.
