Spotkali

Spotkali is a town and municipality in the fictional nation of Valoria, located in the northeastern part of the continent of Athera along the inland stretch of the Spotkali River. With a population of roughly 7,800, it serves as the administrative center of Spotkali Municipality and functions as a local hub for surrounding rural communities.

The town sits at elevations around 120 to 180 meters on rolling hills. The Spotkali River flows through the center, feeding farmland and a small lake on the southern edge. The area has a temperate climate with warm summers, cool winters, and steady precipitation, supporting nearby orchards, vineyards, and cereal crops.

Spotkali originated in the 12th century as a trading outpost on a route between larger settlements. It grew around the river port and a wooden mill. The arrival of the Northline railway in the 19th century linked Spotkali to regional markets, spurring growth while traditional architecture was preserved in the Old Quarter.

The local economy relies on agriculture—cereal crops and grapes—along with a small food-processing plant and light manufacturing. Tourism centers on an annual harvest festival and the preserved Old Mill, a protected historical site. The town is served by a regional rail halt and a network of buses; the nearest international airport is in Valoria City.

Spotkali operates under a mayor-council system. The council has nine members elected every four years, and the mayor serves as the executive head. Education includes one primary school and one secondary school; higher education requires travel to larger cities. A weekly market and a local history museum are central to community life.
