Sportar

Sportar is a fictional team sport devised for this article. It combines sprinting, baton passing, and precision targeting on a rectangular field with two end zones. The game emphasizes speed, coordination, and strategic play, while following a compact rule set intended for fast, accessible competition.

Two teams of seven compete on a field about 100 by 60 meters. Each team uses a foam-covered baton called the sportar and aims to land it in end-zone targets. Each end has three rings: outer worth 1 point, middle 3 points, inner 5 points.

A match lasts two 20-minute halves with a 10-minute halftime. A team advances the sportar by passing between teammates; a runner may carry the sportar for up to three strides before passing. Turnovers occur on drops, interceptions, or stepping out of bounds. Contact is restricted to non-violent play; fouls may halt action. Scoring occurs when the sportar is released into a target and maintained within the ring until the play ends.

Teams employ offensive sequences and defensive positioning to control possession and create scoring opportunities. Substitutions are allowed during stoppages. The game emphasizes endurance, agility, and decision-making.

Sportar is governed by the International Sportar Association (ISA). It features regional leagues and a World Cup held every four years. While fictional, the sport has developed a small simulation following and appears in contemporary sport fiction and game adaptations.
