Sportage

The Sportage is a compact crossover SUV produced by the South Korean automaker Kia. Introduced in 1993, it has been sold globally across five generations, evolving from a small, practical family vehicle to a more upscale, technology-focused model.

First generation (1993–2004) established a compact, practical SUV with basic engines. The second generation (2004–2010) adopted a more modern design and larger interior. The third generation (2010–2015) prioritized comfort and improved safety and efficiency. The fourth generation (2016–2021) introduced a sharper styling language and more features. The current fifth generation (2021–present) uses a new platform, emphasizes efficiency, and offers hybrid or plug-in hybrid variants in many markets.

Powertrains have varied by market and generation, including gasoline and diesel engines, with automatic transmissions common across most regions and manual options on earlier trims.

Recent Sportage models emphasize connectivity with larger touchscreens, smartphone integration, and Kia's Driver Assistance systems such as forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. The model has earned safety ratings in several markets, reflecting Kia's emphasis on active safety.

The Sportage has been designed for global markets and has been sold in Europe, North America, Asia, and Latin America. In some regions, it is produced in dedicated manufacturing facilities.
