Spoelcycli

Spoelcycli, plural of spoelcyclus, is a term used in Dutch to describe the rinse phase in cleaning cycles for washing machines and dishwashers. A spoelcyclus serves to remove remaining detergent, loosened soil, and residues by flushing the items with clean water, often at elevated temperature.

In dishwashers, spoelcycli are part of a program that typically includes pre-wash, wash, and one or more rinse steps, concluding with a final rinse. The rinse stages use hot water to improve cleaning and help with drying, and may be followed by a dedicated drying phase.

In washing machines, the rinse cycle repeats with clean water after the wash, and some programs include extra rinse steps to ensure all detergent is removed, which can be important for sensitive fabrics or households with allergies.

Efficiency and variations: Modern appliances offer eco or compact rinse cycles that minimize water and energy use; the exact duration and water temperature vary by model and program. Rinse cycles may be integrated with spin cycles or occur as separate steps. Some machines allow adjustment of the number of rinses or temperature to balance cleaning performance with resource use.
