Spinorientierung

Spinorientierung refers to the direction of the intrinsic angular momentum of a particle, known as spin. In quantum mechanics, spin is a quantized property, meaning it can only take on discrete values. For particles with spin-1/2, such as electrons, the spin can be oriented in one of two directions, often referred to as "spin up" and "spin down." These directions are typically defined relative to a chosen axis, commonly referred to as the quantization axis.

The concept of spinorientierung is crucial in understanding phenomena like magnetism. In ferromagnetic materials, the spins of many electrons align in the same direction, creating a macroscopic magnetic field.
