Spillkontekst is a term used in game studies to denote the set of surrounding conditions in which a game is played, including social, physical, technological, temporal, and cultural factors. The concept emphasizes that the experience of a game does not occur in a vacuum but is mediated by where, with whom, on what device, for how long, and within which norms and expectations the play takes place.
