Sox

Sox is the plural form of sock, a garment worn on the feet. The term is also used as a nickname or shorthand for various sports teams whose names end with “Sox.” In American professional baseball, the most well-known examples are the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox. Beyond these clubs, “Sox” is used by other teams in minor leagues, colleges, and amateur leagues as a shortened form of the team name. In everyday language, Sox also refers to socks, the garment worn on the feet.
