Soulouques
Soulouques refers to Faustin-Élie Soulouque, who served as the first Emperor of Haiti from 1849 to 1859. Born in 1780, Soulouque was a former slave who rose through the ranks of the Haitian army. In 1847, he was elected President of Haiti, and two years later, he declared himself Emperor, restoring a monarchical system to the country. His reign was marked by authoritarian rule and a desire to reassert Haiti's dominance in the Caribbean.
