Soittavien
Soittavien is the genitive plural form of the present active participle soittava, which comes from the verb soittaa meaning to play (an instrument, a part in a musical performance, or more generally to perform). In Finnish grammar, the present active participle functions like an adjective and can also be used as a noun. Soittavien specifically marks a group of people who play and is most often found in phrases where the participle functions as a nominal modifier in a genitive plural construction, meaning “the playing ones” or “those who play.”
