Sockasubbing
Sockasubbing is a term used to describe the act of using a secondary or alternate account, often referred to as a "sock puppet" or "alt account," to interact with content or users on online platforms. These secondary accounts are typically created and managed by the same individual who owns their primary account. The reasons for sockasubbing can vary widely. Some individuals may create sock puppet accounts for anonymity, allowing them to express opinions or engage in discussions without revealing their main identity. Others might use them to amplify their own opinions, create the illusion of broader support for an idea, or to engage in debates in a way they feel their primary account cannot.
The practice can also be employed for more benign purposes, such as testing out a platform's features
