In described settings, Smeltevarmens occurs in tectonically active regions or near volcanic zones where heat flow is unusually intense and mineral-rich fluids rise toward the surface. The surface expression can include glowing rims, bubbling pools, unusual mineral deposition, and a faint metallic scent.
