Slabik
Slabik, or slabika in Czech and Slovak usage, is a term used to denote the syllable, a basic unit of pronunciation and rhythm in language. A syllable typically consists of a nucleus, usually a vowel, and may include an onset before the nucleus and a coda after it. In phonological descriptions, a common representation is (onset) – nucleus – (coda). The exact permissible shapes of syllables vary across languages and influence phenomena such as stress placement, syllable counting, and hyphenation.
