Skänkargången

Skänkargången is a traditional Swedish social custom primarily observed during formal dining events, especially those involving guests or significant occasions. The term translates literally to "cupbearer's walk" or "serving walk." It describes the act of a host, or sometimes a designated guest, personally pouring and serving drinks to each individual at the table. This often involves moving from one guest to another, offering wine, schnapps, or other beverages.

The practice carries a symbolic meaning of hospitality, attentiveness, and respect. By personally serving drinks, the host demonstrates a high level of care and consideration for their guests, reinforcing the social bond.
