The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, commonly referred to as Skyrim, is a fantasy open-world action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Released in 2011 for Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, it is set in the province of Skyrim within the continent of Tamriel and follows the Dragonborn, a mortal born with the power to absorb dragons' souls. The central conflict centers on a dragon invasion and the prophesied return of Alduin the World-Eater.

Gameplay emphasizes exploration and player choice. Players customize a character’s race, appearance, and abilities, and engage in combat using melee, archery, magic, or shouts. The open world includes cities, towns, and dungeons, with quests that can be pursued in various orders. Skills improve through use, and the leveling system unlocks abilities.
