Skorids

Skorids are a fictional species from the popular video game series "StarCraft." Within the game's lore, they are an insectoid race known for their immense numbers, aggressive nature, and hive-mind mentality. Skorids are a playable race in StarCraft, characterized by their chitinous exoskeletons, multiple limbs, and acidic secretions. They communicate through a psionic network, allowing for coordinated attacks and rapid adaptation to battlefield conditions.

The Skorid military is comprised of various specialized units, each with distinct roles and abilities. Common units include the Zergling, a fast and numerous melee attacker; the Hydralisk, a ranged unit capable of firing projectiles; and the Brood Lord, a powerful aerial unit that spawns smaller flying creatures. Skorid technology focuses on biological evolution and mutation, allowing them to rapidly produce new strains of units and adapt to enemy tactics. Their primary goal is to assimilate or annihilate all other life forms in the galaxy, a process known as the Great Swarm. The Skorids' origin is revealed to be from a distant galaxy, where they were once a primitive species before being empowered by an ancient entity known as the Overmind. This entity served as the central consciousness of the Skorids, guiding their expansion and evolution. However, the Overmind's death led to the fragmentation of the Skorid hive mind and a period of internal strife. Despite this, the Skorids remain a formidable force in the StarCraft universe.
