Skolkovo

Skolkovo is a modern, planned innovation city located on the outskirts of Moscow, Russia. Its primary purpose is to foster the development of new technologies and their commercialization. The project aims to create a hub for research, education, and business, attracting both Russian and international talent and investment.

The Skolkovo Innovation Center, also known as Skolkovo Technopark, is the core of this initiative. It houses a dedicated research and development facility, a business incubator, and a university, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech). Skoltech, established in partnership with MIT, focuses on scientific research and engineering education across several key areas, including information technology, energy, biomedical technologies, and space.

The innovation city is designed to be a self-contained ecosystem, offering residential areas, office spaces, and recreational facilities alongside its research and educational institutions. The goal is to create an attractive environment for scientists, entrepreneurs, and students. Skolkovo seeks to stimulate economic growth by supporting startups and emerging technologies, aiming to make Russia a significant player in the global innovation landscape. The project has attracted considerable government support and funding since its inception.
