The concept refers to a situation or perspective where information, opinions, or decisions are influenced by an unfair or disproportionate emphasis, often due to personal beliefs, stereotypes, or external pressures. It highlights the tendency for individuals or groups to perceive, interpret, or evaluate information in a way that aligns with their preexisting views, even when evidence suggests otherwise.

The phenomenon of skjevbiasert is closely related to cognitive biases, such as confirmation bias, where people favor information that confirms their existing beliefs while dismissing contradictory evidence.
