The Sith are a fictional species and a dark side-aligned Force-wielding order in the Star Wars universe. Originating from the planet Korriban, the ancient Sith were a species with a natural affinity for the dark side of the Force. Over millennia, the term "Sith" evolved to encompass not only the species but also any individual who embraced the dark side, particularly those who followed the Sith Code.

The Sith are characterized by their pursuit of power, their hatred, and their aggressive nature. They believe in the survival of the fittest and the subjugation of others. The core tenet of their philosophy is the "Rule of Two," a principle established by Darth Bane that dictates there should only ever be two Sith Lords at any given time: a master to embody power and an apprentice to crave it. This ensures that the Sith do not weaken themselves through infighting, as was common in earlier eras.

Throughout the Star Wars saga, the Sith have been the primary antagonists, often seeking to overthrow the Galactic Republic and later the Jedi Order. They frequently employ dark side powers such as Force lightning, mind control, and precognition, and are often associated with red-bladed lightsabers. Notable Sith Lords include Darth Sidious, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and Count Dooku. Their ultimate goal is typically galactic domination and the eradication of the Jedi.
