Sionna is a fictional city-state created for fantasy literature and world-building projects. It is situated on the southern coast of the Veridian Strait, facing the open sea, and serves as a commercial and cultural hub in the world of Avernia.

The city occupies a crescent harbor, with a historic core known as Old Town and newer districts such as the Market District and the Docks Quarter. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and dry summers moderated by sea breezes.

Sionna traces its origins to maritime merchants in the 12th century and grew as a trading hub. It achieved prominence during the late medieval period, then rebuilt after a major earthquake in 1623 by artisans who favored stone boulevards and fortifications.

Governance is by a mayor and a unicameral city council elected by residents. Local laws, planning, policing, and education are managed by city authorities, with national policy remaining within the broader Avernia federation.

The port anchors the economy, with shipbuilding, fishing, warehousing, and related crafts such as glassworking and rope production. Trade links extend to nearby islands and inland markets, sustaining a diverse workforce.

Sionnan culture emphasizes maritime exchange and multicultural influences. The city hosts the annual Harvest Moon Festival, supports a coastal cuisine, and maintains bilingualism in Sionnan and Veridian in daily life.

Notable sites include the Sionna Lighthouse, Bastion of Solace, Old Market Hall, and the Ropewalk. Educational institutions include Sionna University and the Trade Institute, which specialize in navigation, urban planning, and commerce.
