Sinuksenpoisto

Sinuksenpoisto, also known as sinusotomy or sinus surgery, refers to a range of surgical procedures performed to improve the drainage and ventilation of the paranasal sinuses. These air-filled cavities within the skull can become blocked by inflammation, polyps, or other abnormalities, leading to chronic sinusitis, facial pain, and breathing difficulties. The primary goal of sinuksenpoisto is to remove the obstruction and enlarge the natural sinus openings, allowing for better mucus flow and reduced infection risk.

There are several types of sinuksenpoisto, varying in invasiveness and technique. Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) is the most common approach, utilizing an endoscope, a small, rigid tube with a camera, inserted through the nostrils.
