Sinht

Sinht is a constructed language developed for use in fictional settings and role-playing communities. It was developed in the early 2010s by several language enthusiasts as a project to explore regular morphology and cross-cultural communication.

The language is described as primarily agglutinative with subject–object–verb (SOV) syntax, marked by lengthy affixes that encode tense, aspect, mood, number, and case. Noun phrases carry suffixal case marking, while verbs combine with aspectual and temporal affixes. Personal pronouns are independent, while demonstratives and quantifiers function as modifiers within noun phrases.

Phonology: Sinht has a five-vowel system and a modest consonant inventory including p t k m n s l r h. Stress tends to fall on the penultimate syllable; the language uses a few consonant clusters and no phonemic tone.

Orthography and writing: Sinht uses a Latin-based alphabet with diacritics to indicate vowel length and some palatalization. The script also includes a small set of logographic signs used in traditional texts within the fictional world, but these are not required for everyday writing.

History and status: In the fictional world, Sinht is spoken by a regional community and studied by enthusiasts worldwide. Resources include grammars, dictionaries, and online courses, and it has a presence in fan-fiction and game materials.

Influence and use: The language is intended to be easy to learn for speakers of European languages, while offering expressive features such as affix stacking and clear grammar. It has been discussed in conlang communities as an example of regular morphology and pragmatic syntax.
