Silang

Silang is a municipality in Cavite province, Philippines, part of the Calabarzon region. It lies in the northern portion of Cavite, near the Tagaytay area, and features a mix of upland agricultural landscapes and suburban barangays. The town sits on rolling terrain with a cooler climate than lowland Cavite, contributing to its agricultural and residential character.

Historically, Silang traces its roots to the Spanish colonial era and developed as a rural community before expanding in the modern period as urbanization and connectivity with nearby centers increased. Its growth has been shaped by its position along major transportation routes and the economic links to nearby urban and resort areas.

Economy and land use in Silang have traditionally centered on agriculture, with crops such as coffee, fruit trees, and vegetables. In recent decades, the municipality has seen rising residential and commercial development due to its proximity to Metro Manila and to tourist destinations in Tagaytay. Agritourism has become more prominent, with farms offering farming activities, farm-to-table experiences, and weekend visits.

Administration in Silang is carried out by a local government unit headed by a mayor and vice mayor, supported by an elected Sangguniang Bayan. The municipality is subdivided into numerous barangays, which handle local governance at the smallest administrative level.

Transportation access includes major road networks such as the Emilio Aguinaldo Highway, with public transport options like jeepneys and buses connecting Silang to neighboring cities and towns.
