Sijhani

Sijhani is a town and the administrative center of the Sijhani District in the fictional nation of Aridia. It sits in the central valley along the Sijha River, flanked by the Kharan foothills. The climate is temperate, with hot summers and a monsoon-influenced rainy season. The town’s life centers on agriculture, local crafts, and small-scale trade.

Historically, Sijhani was founded in the 14th century by agrarian communities and grew as a regional market hub. It remained modest until the early 20th century when a nearby railway line spurred growth. After national independence, Sijhani expanded public services and governance. The population is about 12,000. The majority are ethnic Sijhani, who speak the Sijhani language, with minority communities maintaining traditional crafts and religious practices. The local culture centers on an annual harvest festival that features music, dance, and vibrant market fairs.

Economy and infrastructure are oriented toward agriculture—grains, fruits, and vegetables—and small-scale manufacturing and weaving. The town has a road network that connects to the regional capital and a light rail link. Public services include a secondary school, a community college, a district hospital, and a public library.

Landmarks include the Old Sijhani Bazaar, the River Bridge, and the Hilltop Fortress, which are popular with residents and visitors. The Sijhani Museum preserves local life, textiles, and artifacts, while the Sijhani language remains the predominant tongue of the community.
