In telecommunications, signal intervals are fundamental to digital transmission. The duration of these intervals determines the data rate and bit period. For example, in a binary signal, a longer interval might represent a '0' bit, while a shorter one could signify a '1' bit. The precise measurement and maintenance of these intervals ensure accurate data reception.

In physics and engineering, signal intervals can be observed in periodic phenomena such as oscillations, waves, or pulses.
