Signaalimuuntimissa, often translated as signal converters or signal transducers, are essential components in many electronic and industrial systems. Their primary function is to change a signal from one form or format to another, enabling different parts of a system to communicate effectively. This conversion can involve various types of signals, including electrical, optical, acoustic, and mechanical.

In electrical engineering, signal converters are used to adapt signals between different voltage levels, current types (AC to DC, DC to AC), or digital and analog formats. For example, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) transforms a continuous analog signal, such as that from a temperature sensor, into a discrete digital signal that can be processed by a microcontroller.
