Sidoarjo

Sidoarjo is a regency located in the East Java province of Indonesia. It is situated just south of Surabaya, the provincial capital, making it a significant part of the metropolitan area. The regency's administrative center is the city of Sidoarjo. Sidoarjo is known for its industrial activities, particularly in the ceramics, food processing, and textile sectors. The region also has a rich agricultural base, with rice, corn, and various fruits being key produce.

Historically, Sidoarjo has been an important trading hub due to its strategic location. The regency's name is derived from "Sida" meaning "success" or "achieved" and "Raja" meaning "king," suggesting a prosperous past. Sidoarjo is accessible by road and rail, with a major railway station in the city serving as a crucial transport link. The Juanda International Airport, one of the busiest in Indonesia, is also located within the Sidoarjo regency, serving both Surabaya and the surrounding areas.
