Sido is the stage name of Paul Würdig, a German rapper and actor born in East Berlin in 1980. He rose to prominence in the German hip hop scene in the early 2000s as a member of the underground collective Die Sekte. Known for performing with a metal skull mask, he adopted the Sido persona and released his debut album Maske in 2004 on the Aggro Berlin label. The album drew attention for its provocative lyrics and masked image, contributing to debates about violence and explicit content in rap.
