Shotimid

Shotimid is a rare mineral first discovered in the Khibiny Massif, Russia. Its chemical formula is NaCa2(Mg,Fe)5Si6O16(OH)2. Shotimid belongs to the amphibole group of minerals, characterized by double chains of silica tetrahedra. Its color typically ranges from dark green to black. The mineral is often found in alkaline igneous rocks. It is named after the Russian mineralogist, Professor Vladimir S. Shotimid, in recognition of his contributions to mineralogy.
