Shamashshumukin
Shamashshumukin was a prince and later king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire. He was the son of Esarhaddon, the king of Assyria, and was appointed governor of Babylon by his father. His older brother, Ashurbanipal, inherited the Assyrian throne. Shamashshumukin initially ruled Babylon loyally, but tensions grew between the brothers as Shamashshumukin sought greater autonomy.
