Servod

Servod, also known as servo motors, are a type of electric motor that allows for precise control of angular or linear position, velocity, and acceleration. They are distinct from simple DC or AC motors because they incorporate a feedback mechanism that continuously monitors the motor's actual position and compares it to the desired position. This feedback loop enables the servo motor to make adjustments to maintain the target position with high accuracy.

The core components of a servo system typically include a motor, a feedback sensor (like a potentiometer or encoder), and a control circuit. The control circuit receives a command signal indicating the desired position. It then compares this signal to the position reported by the sensor. Based on the difference, or error, the control circuit sends a voltage or current to the motor to move it towards the correct position. Once the actual position matches the desired position, the control circuit stops sending power to the motor, holding it in place.

Servo motors find widespread application in robotics, automation, remote-controlled vehicles, and manufacturing equipment where precise movement is critical. They can be found in everything from robotic arms on assembly lines to the steering mechanisms in radio-controlled cars. Their ability to provide controlled and repeatable motion makes them indispensable in many modern technological systems.
