Serumkalciumnivåer, often referred to as serum calcium levels, represent the concentration of calcium in the blood. Calcium is a vital mineral for numerous bodily functions, including bone health, muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission, and blood clotting. Maintaining a stable calcium level in the blood is crucial for overall health, and this is primarily regulated by hormones like parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcitonin.

Normal serum calcium levels typically fall within a specific range, though this can vary slightly between laboratories. Deviations from this normal range can indicate underlying medical conditions. Low serum calcium levels are known as hypocalcemia, which can manifest with symptoms such as muscle cramps, tingling sensations, and in severe cases, seizures.
