Sergemisrakendusi

Sergemisrakendusi was a Soviet three-seat close air support attack helicopters designed in the 1970s. The project was initiated to create a versatile aircraft capable of operating in a small formation, close to the battlefield, providing direct fire support to infantry units at a relatively low altitude.

The helicopter was powered by a single Lotarev TV3-117B turboshaft engine, providing a maximum power of 2,200 horsepower. The aircraft's structural design featured a steel lattice frame, to which the rotor, fuselage, and tail sections were mounted. The rotor spanned 15.8 meters, with three blades of 4 meters in length.

One of the key features of Sergemisrakendusi was its armament. The helicopter was designed to carry a variety of missiles and rockets, including the 80mm 240V Appat gunpods with 11 rockets, the APR-40 anti-tank missiles, and the PU 02-26 Anti-ship missiles. Additionally, it could be equipped with 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns for close combat situations.

Development of the Sergemisrakendusi began in the early 1970s, with initial test flights scheduled for the end of that decade. However, the program faced significant delays and funding issues, which ultimately led to its cancellation in the mid-1980s. The exact reason for its discontinuation is unclear, but some speculate it was due to the emergence of more advanced attack helicopters and the shift in military emphasis towards cleaner, more modular designs. Despite its cancellation, the Soviet development of Sergemisrakendusi contributed to the advancement of close air support attack helicopters in the late Cold War period.
