Septimiana
Septimiana is a historical region located in what is now southern France. Its name derives from the Roman province of Septimania, which was established in the 3rd century AD. This province encompassed territories roughly corresponding to the modern French departments of Hérault, Gard, Lozère, Aude, and Pyrénées-Orientales. Septimania was strategically important during the Roman Empire due to its location on the Mediterranean coast and its proximity to the Pyrenees mountains, which formed a natural border with the Iberian Peninsula.
Following the decline of the Western Roman Empire, Septimania experienced a period of transition and conflict.
